Description

Supplementing the "all-round" RATO-S coupling the flexible RATO-DG coupling has been specially designed for use in installations requiring a medium level of torsional flexibility and misalignment capacity. The application areas are drivelines using diesel/ gas-engines and electric motors in the general field of mechanical engineering, in mining, co-generation, in the building and construction industry, telecommunications and marine industry. The 4 available stiffnesses enable a good tuning of the system with respect to both the transient and steady-state torsional vibration response. In the tradition of VULKAN couplings, a backlash free torque transmission is achieved. Giving rise to an exact torque transfer (important for governor stability) during the loading/ unloading of the coupling. The absence of a torque-limiting device in the coupling protects the connected machinery from the effects of shock loads, e.g. short circuits. When required, however, a torque limiting device can be fitted. The normal misalignments caused by foundation defections, heat etc. can be adequately compensated for by the radial, axial and angular flexibility of the RATO-DG.
